Before getting into the cancer stuff, just some general info about me. I grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI, which is outside Detroit, and graduated from Wayne State University Law School, located in Detroit. I currently teach individual and corporate taxation at a business school in Los Angeles. I love to death my two Corgis, Kipling and Nabokov.

Now about the cancer stuff. About two weeks after accepting my current job in December 2012, which required me to move from Detroit to Los Angeles by September 2013, I was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, hormone positive. etc. Since I didn’t have a full time job and was single, I had to get to LA. So in eight months, I had a double mastectomy, breast reconstruction, went through chemo, found a new medical team in LA, packed, moved to LA and started my new job. During my first month in LA, I met with my wonderful cancer medical team at USC Hospital and started radiation. I’ve been cancer free since 2014.

I feel awkward  and don’t know what to say when people say I can’t believe you did all that or how did you do all that in 8 months. I just had to do it.
